Roast Beef

This recipe is one of my all-time favorite comfort foods.  My grandmother used to make it after church on Sunday afternoons when I was growing up and every time I make this it reminds me a little bit of my childhood.  Thanks to some shortcuts that my mom discovered this recipe is also quite simple.

Ingredients:
1 2-lb beef roast (I usually go with chuck roast, but pick your favorite)
1 packet onion soup mix
1/4 cup red wine or apple cider vinegar

Preheat your oven to 350.  Place your roast beef in the center of a 9x13 pan.  Sprinkle with the soup mix, and then pour the vinegar on top.  Cover your pan and bake for 2 hours.  If you like, you can cook this with potatoes and carrots in the pan alongside the roast beef, and then it will be a complete meal!

The best part about making this roast beef is serving it with my gravy.

I hope you've all enjoyed this trip down my memory lane.  What kind of recipes did your family serve when you were young that you still make today?

  1. This sounds good, but I need a clarification. Does "red wine or apple cider vinegar" mean exactly that, or does it mean, "red wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar"? Either would probably good, But I'd like to know, wine or vinegar?

    Thanks,
